Online Childbirth Class
Our online childbirth class is ideal for those expectant parents who can't attend an on-site childbirth class due to work schedules, time constraints, or medical conditions.
You only need to register ONE person. Please do not register multiple participants. You will incur a charge for each person registered.
The eight-chapter program is an interactive, web-based class that uses videos, personal birth stories, animations, activities, and games to teach all the essential information parents need to know to prepare for their birth.
Our online childbirth class will help you:
- Understand pregnancy – what's happening to your body, discomforts, warning signs, nutrition, exercise, and more
- Learn about labor – preparing for birth, pre-labor signs, onset of labor, 3D animation of the labor process, and more
- See how the stages of labor unfold – watch amazing real-life birth stories
- Discover helpful comfort techniques – breathing, relaxation, massage, visualization, focal points, hydrotherapy, labor and pushing positions, advice for partners, and more

Online Understanding Breastfeeding
Making the decision to breastfeed is one of the best things you can do for your baby! As with any new experience, you probably have lots of questions. Consider the Understanding Breastfeeding eClass your go-to guide for answers. This interactive online course covers the essentials, including clear animation and plenty of video examples. It lets you know when to call for help and includes partner tips throughout. You will also have the opportunity to track feedings with an easy-to-use tracker!
You can access the eClass from any computer or mobile device with an Internet connection. Allow 2-3 hours to complete.

Online Understanding Fatherhood Class
Preparing for fatherhood is no easy task. Men want to support their partners and new babies, but often feel lost and unsure about how to do that. This convenient, informative, and entertaining eClass was created for men (by men) to help them find their way on this unique journey. With a positive focus on the importance of being involved right from the start, you’ll learn how to support your partner through pregnancy and birth, as well as survival tips for those first few sleep-deprived months with a newborn. Integrated throughout the class are fun activities and video clips that share the relatable stories of real dads and advice from a fatherhood expert.

Online Understanding Postpartum Health & Baby Care
Becoming a parent is an exciting time, with many new experiences, emotions, and a ton of questions. Consider the Understanding Postpartum Health & Baby Care eClass your go-to guide for caring for yourself and your new baby over the first few days and weeks. This interactive online course covers essential information about caring for your newborn, feeding your baby, and taking care of yourself after childbirth. It also highlights important warning signs so you know when to call for help. Parenthood is a journey. Understanding Postpartum Health & Baby Care was created to prepare you for this adventure.
You can access the eClass from any computer or mobile device with an Internet connection. Allow about 2 hours to complete.

Understanding Birth (Canadian Valley)

This holistic Understanding Birth class meets from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Conference Room A and B at INTEGRIS Health Canadian Valley Hospital.
This course includes eight weeks of classes plus one bonus physical therapy class and a mock delivery in an LDRP room. Moms are encouraged to register during 14 to 16 weeks into their pregnancy.

Understanding Birth covers the following topics:
- Pregnancy: anatomy, preeclampsia and warning signs, preterm labor, hazards, emotions, healthy nutrition, physical changes and challenges, etc.
- Labor: Pain theories, 5 Ps of labor, signs labor is near, onset of labor, stages of labor, the importance of being relaxed and having a relaxed support system, skin-to-skin contact with mom and dad/support team, etc.
- Birth Stories (varies by format): Stories show how the stages of labor unfold in real life, introducing examples of natural coping techniques, partner support, medicated pain relief and cesareans.
- Comfort Techniques: Birth preferences, labor support, breathing, relaxation, massage, visualization, focal points, hydrotherapy, back labor, partner advice and when and how to push. We focus on being able to RELAX!
- Medical Choices/Procedures: Decision-making, induction, fetal monitoring, IVs, analgesics, epidural anesthesia, labor and pushing positions with epidural, augmentation and second-stage interventions.
- Cesarean Birth: Reasons for and types of cesareans, anesthesia, 3D animation of surgery, recovery, reducing the risk for cesarean birth.
- Initial Newborn care: Practicing together changing diapers, dressing, how to hold a baby, how to transfer with confidence from one person to another, bathing and Q&A.
- Beginning Breastfeeding: How to get a good latch for a proper transfer of milk from breast to baby, teaching dad/support person the positions – then, letting them teach moms, establishing a positive mindset around breastfeeding, some challenges, the advantages for both mom and baby, Q&A.
- Postpartum: This is important time. Too often we overlook or minimize this time, forcing moms to take on too much too fast which interferes with their recovery, healthy breastfeeding and heathy relationships!
Class instructor JeannaLynn May, RN-BSN, CCE, brings more than 24 years of experience in labor and delivery, postpartum care and childbirth education. A board-certified childbirth educator and life coach, she has served families at INTEGRIS Health Canadian Valley Women’s Center since 2002, bringing a deep-seated, genuine passion to her classes and the families she serves.

Comfort Measures for Childbirth
with Angela Kersh
Comfort Measures class is perfect for couples who have given birth before and want a refresher or couples who have already attended Understanding Birth class and want a deeper understanding with more practice of natural coping methods. This class is created around Penny Simkin's Comfort Measures DVD and book The Birth Partner. It will be interactive for both mom and support people. This class does not include information about medical intervention or the process of labor itself, that is covered in the Understand Birth class. This class focuses on natural coping methods.
Topics include: breathing, relaxation, visualization, guided imagery, massage, counter pressure, positions for labor and pushing.
It is most effective if support people attend with mom. 1-2 per mom is welcome.
Understanding Birth (Edmond)

This is a two night class series. Two Tuesday nights, one week a part from 6-9pm. March 31 and April 7.
The "Understanding Birth" class will meet on the 4th floor Women's Center at INTEGRIS Health Edmond in the Education Room which is located outside the secured unit next to the waiting room. Instructors are skilled and passionate labor and delivery nurses who are employed by INTEGRIS Health Edmond Women's Center.
NOTE: Only register one person. You may bring 1-2 support persons.
Understanding Birth is a class covering the following information:
- Pregnancy: anatomy, preeclampsia & warning signs, preterm labor, hazards, emotions, and more.

- Medical Procedures: Decision-making, induction, fetal monitoring, IVs, analgesics, epidural anesthesia, labor and pushing positions with epidural, augmentation, and second-stage interventions.
- Cesarean Birth: Reasons for a cesarean, types of cesareans, risks, anesthesia, 3D animation of surgery, recovery, reducing the risk for cesarean birth
Each woman will receive a corresponding guidebook that contains a free downloadable app complete with all the videos from the class as well as other helpful features.
An optional tour of the unit will be given following the second class from 9-9:30pm. If you are not deliverying at Edmond, or do not want to stay, you may leave when class is over.
This class requires a minimum of 4 participants to make. If the class does not make, a refund will be given of all the class fees minus a $7 service fee.

Tours are offered at 11:45 a.m. the first Wednesday of every month.
